Black Box on the Fringe. What is it? A Vancouver College talent show. However, it’s much more than that. It’s an opporunity to voice out our abilities and opinions in our own unique way, through our True Colors. Essentially, this is what these two simple words mean. Though, it’s also related to bullying and it’s new form, cyberbullying, which have grown and developed exponentionally to almost an uncontrollable state. Yet, it’s still being disregarded among students, as well as in the general public. Fortunately, artists such as Simple Plan, Hedley, Lights, Fefe Dobson, Kardinla Offishall, Alyssa Reid, and Walk Off The Earth have already expressed their concerns regarding this worldwide problem, but they need our help too. How many times has bullying led to, dare I say it, suicide, and we then ask ourselves, What if I had just been her friend… To quote unquote: “Together we can shine the spotlight on bullying, and together we can work to overcome this global issue.” So I urge you to stand up, and not stand by. Perhaps even post a picture of what True Colors means to you. And again, if you do see yourself in one of these pictures and would like to have it taken down for personal reasons, please comment and I’ll be happy to do so.
